Avocado is a healthy fruit that is loaded with monosaturated fats (healthy fats) and fiber. From babies to everyone can enjoy avocado. Also, it is known for its creamy texture and nutty taste. Avocado Paratha is an excellent recipe using avocado.

Because of its creamy texture, it mixes with the flour evenly and helps to make the parathas soft.

Smart Cooking Tips:

1.Mash the avocado thoroughly with garlic, lemon juice, and cilantro before adding wheat flour.

2. You can also add finely chopped serrano peppers in this paratha.


3. Keep the dough covered for at least 20 minutes, this helps to make a soft paratha.

4. Add flour little by little and knead a dough. The water is not necessary for kneading the dough. Mashed avocado is enough to knead a dough.

5. Roll the dough into a thin flat circle using rolling pin gently, over doing tends to leave cracks in the paratha.

A kids-friendly paratha recipe:

Avocado Paratha is an excellent lunch box recipe. It stays soft in the lunch box. Also, it is a delicious way to include avocado in picky eaters diet.

These parathas don’t even has a flavor of avocado; it tastes like the plain paratha with subtle avocado, garlic and cilantro flavor.

If your kids do not like the taste of fresh herbs in paratha, you can avoid adding it.

You can also make chicken rolls, egg rolls with the avocado paratha by placing the shredded chicken, scrambled eggs in the paratha and rolling it to make the rolls.

Ingredients
  • 1 no AVOCADO
  • 1 cup WHEAT FLOUR
  • 1 tsp SALT
  • 1 tsp LEMON JUICE
  • 1 tbsp CILANTRO CHOPPED (coriander leaves)
  • 0.50 tsp GARLIC CLOVE CHOPEED
  • 1 tsp UNSALTED BUTTER OR GHEE
Instructions
  1. Cut the avocado into a half using a knife and remove the seed using a spoon. Scoop out the avocado flesh from the peel using a spoon and put it in the medium bowl. Discard the avocado peel.

  2. Squeeze in the lemon juice, add chopped garlic, chopped cilantro, salt and mash everything together using a fork.

  3. Add a cup of wheat flour and knead a soft dough ( water is not necessary for kneading a dough, mashed avocado is enough for kneading the dough). 

  4. Cover and set the dough for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, divide the dough into an equal size small balls, dust each ball with extra wheat flour or all purpose flour and roll into the thin flat circle one at a time.

  5. Place the rolled paratha on a hot skillet and cook until the paratha starts to puff up slightly on top.

  6. Flip and cook on the other side until the color changes slightly and the brown spots start to appear. Transfer it to a plate and apply butter when the paratha is hot and serve.

How to serve avocado paratha?

Serve avocado paratha as it is or with any of your favorite curries. I stuff the cauliflower egg masala in the avocado paratha and make a roll for my son Aldrich’s lunch box.
