Make this chickpeas rice in 20 mins:
I used canned chickpeas for this recipe, by using canned peas you can reduce the time to 20 mins. If you make it with dry chickpeas, cook it separately using pressure cooker by soaking it for at least 6 hours.
When using, canned chickpea make sure to drain off the liquid content and rinse chickpeas in cold water before using it in this recipe.
Cooking Rice for the pulao:
I used long grain basmati rice for this recipe. I just 2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice and cook it in a rice cooker. You can also cook rice in a pressure cooker or a deep vessel on a stove top.
Make sure to cool the rice completely before start cooking. Avoid using rice immediately after cooking, because it will become mushy when mixing with chickpea masala.

- 2 cup BASMATI RICE
- 15.5 oz CHICKPEAS
- 1 cup ONION CHOPPED
- 1 cup CARROTS CHOPPED
- 2 no GREEN CHILIES
- 1 cup GREEN BEANS CHOPPED
- 5 tbsp OIL
- 1 tsp SALT TABLE
- 1 tsp CUMIN SEED
- 1 no CINNAMON
- 1 no BAY LEAF
- 2 no CARDAMOM

Cook rice separately according to package direction or leftover rice works best for this recipe.

Drain liquid content from canned chickpea and rinse with cold water. Make sure to drain off the water completely after rinsing. If you are using dry chickpeas, soak it for 6 - 8 hours and cook until it becomes soft.

In a pan heat oil add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom, bay leaf, chopped onion, green chilies and cook until onion becomes soft.

Add chopped carrot, green beans and cook until vegetables become soft. Add chickpeas, salt and mix well. Add cooked rice and mix well. Check for the salt and garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
