What goes good with fried fish?

Traditionally, this spicy fried fish is served as a side dish with rice varieties or as an appetizer with lemon wedges. Grilled or boiled veggies, garden salads and soups are the best sides that goes well with the fried fish. Tartar sauce is my favorite dip that goes well with the fried fish.

Fried Fish Indian Style:

Indian style fish fry is more flavorful and delicious with spices. Spices do not only help to add flavors to the fish but also it contains the natural anti-bacterial properties that help to fight against the disease-causing bacterias in the meats and veggies. It helps to add flavors to the meat and veggies without adding calories. In Indian cuisine, all the seafood recipes include spices like turmeric and coriander powder that helps to reduce the stinky smell from the fish and to add flavor and aroma to the dishes.

Bengali Fish Fry Recipe:

Bengali fish fry recipe is slightly different from the South Indian recipe. Still, it is marinated with the spices like coriander powder, garam masala, lemon juice, red chili powder, salt and coated with egg, flour, breadcrumbs and deep fried for a crispy outer coating.

Smart Cooking Tips:

  1. Make the marinade separately instead of adding the spices directly on the fish. So that you can check for the salt and spice taste and adjust adding accordingly.
  2. Fry the fish in a hot oil over a medium to high heat. This helps to make a crispy fish fry.
  3. You can add other seasonings like ginger garlic paste, onion powder, garam masala, and curry leaves.
  4. You can any variety of fish like salmon and catfish. If you are using frozen fish make sure to thaw the fish thoroughly before marinating.
  5. Wait until the bottom side of the fish becomes crispy before flipping to the other side. This helps to avoid the fish from breaking.

Best Fish Fry:

This South Indian fish fry is the best and lip-smacking recipe that is adapted from Tamilnadu. Crispy on the outer side, tender and flaky inside. It is flavorful and aromatic, simple to make in just a few minutes with only a few ingredients.

How do I fry fish?

Frying fish is easy but it needs little care to turn out perfect. Fish is delicate to handle it breaks down into chunks easily when fliping or if the seasoning is not in the right amount it will badly affect the taste of the fish. Corn slurry is used to give the crispy texture to the fried fish. While turning the fish to the other side, make sure until the bottom side of the fish gets cooked and firm. This helps to avoid get sticking to the frying pan or break down into chunks.

Fish fillet recipes:

Fish fillets are boneless, skinless and fleshy without scales that you can make a wide variety of recipes like a fish cutlet, fish fingers, fish curry, fish tikka, baked fish, fish biriyani and pan-roasted fish. Fish fillets are available in almost all the grocery shops in both frozen and fresh. I always prefer buying tilapia and salmon fillets compared to other fish varieties. Since the fish fillets are boneless and skinless, it just gets cooked in a few minutes. Also, the fish fillets do not require much cleaning and easy to handle.
