Mango Dessert – Shrikhand
Mango Shrikhand is a simple and easy dessert with fewer ingredients. It is made up of Mango, thick Yogurt and Cardamom. You can make thick yogurt, which is also called as hung curd, at home by draining the yogurt in a muslin cloth. This process will help to bring the yogurt into cream cheese consistency.
You can use fresh mango puree or store-bought Mango Pulp for this recipe.
Quick Homemade Yogurt Recipes:
Yogurt made at home easily by boiling milk and incubate overnight or at least 6 hours. Yogurt can be done either in low-fat, 2% milk or whole milk. The thickness of the yogurt depends on milk. Full-fat whole milk produces a thick yogurt and with low-fat milk it will be thin. Good quality of Yogurt is also available in stores.
There are many varieties of dishes made from yogurt like smoothies, parfait, yogurt dip, yogurt onion raita, Chicken Tikka, Kadai Chicken and desserts.
Although there are so many recipes made with yogurt, mango shrikhand is one of my favorite recipe. It is also a best way to have yogurt with mango flavor.
Greek yogurt recipes:
Greek yogurt is rich and creamy compared to other plain varieties. It serves as a healthy breakfast or snack option. Greek yogurt topped with fruits and nuts is a quick and healthy breakfast. Yogurt can also be used in making desserts, baking or toppings on another dessert.
Easy desserts for a crowd:
Mango Shrikhand is a crowd-pleasing dessert. It does not require cooking or baking. I used to place the yogurt in a muslin cloth for straining the excess liquid from yogurt, a day before of party in the refrigerator.
Avoid straining the yogurt in a room temperature, or it will make your yogurt sour. Sour yogurt will not suit for making this dessert.
Before starting the party I make mango puree and mix it with yogurt and again chill it in the refrigerator for an hour. You can also serve this dessert in a beautiful dessert cups for your guests. You can use any variety of nuts for topping.
Dessert recipes for kids:
Kids love chilled dessert. Mango Shrikhand is one of the kid’s friendly dessert. Sweet mango puree mixed with creamy yogurt and flavored with cardamom. It is also a healthy dessert for kids without artificial flavors and colors. It is an excellent replacement for high-fat ice creams.

- 1 no ALPHONSO MANGO
- 0.50 cup PLAIN YOGURT
- 2 tbsp SUGARS GRANULATED
- 2 no CARDAMOM
- 2 tsp ALMONDS

Place yogurt in a muslin cloth and drain out the excess liquid content (whey) in the refrigerator for about 5 - 6 hours. Drained yogurt should be in a cream cheese consistency.

Peel and chop the mango flesh roughly. Discard the mango seed and skin. In a blender or mixer add chopped mango, cardamom, sugar and blend it to a smooth puree.

Mix mango puree mixture and creamy yogurt together gently. Avoid blending it using mixer or blender. Garnish it with chopped nuts and serve chill.
