Homemade sugar-free strawberry jam recipe without pectin. It is a quick and easy jam recipe to make at home in 25 minutes depends on the quantity you make.
How to make strawberry jam at home?
Making strawberry jam at home is easy and simple. I made a 8 oz of strawberry jam for my small family; it takes 25 minutes for me to cook from start to end. I store it in a refrigerator for up to three weeks. My little son Aldrich loves to have bread, butter, and jam for his breakfast. I used store-bought jam that is loaded with sugar and corn syrup, it is hard for me to find healthy sugar-free jams at the store. So I started making sugar-free jam at home. It turned out excellent and my son Aldrich liked the taste. After I started making jam at home, I completely stopped buying it from the store.
Smart Cooking Tips:
- Choose fresh strawberries without any spoiled or blemished ones.
-
Make sure to cook in a medium flame this helps to prevent strawberries from burning. Keep stirring in between, if you burned the strawberries, the jam would taste bitter.
-
Cook strawberries until it becomes thick. The longer the strawberries cook thicker the jam will be.
- You can also replace the honey with sugar or reduce the amount of honey with sugar.
-
Make sure to sterilize the glass jar and lid according to the package directions before filling the jam. Sterilizing the jars help to kill the microorganisms in the jars and helps to keep the jam good without spoiling.
-
Use a clean dry spoon and jar without any moisture content. Moisture content in the spoon and jar spoils the jam quickly.
Strawberry Jam without Pectin:
Pectin is used as a gelling agent in making jams. It helps to give a thick and jelly like texture to jams. I made this jam without pectin though the texture is not in a jelly type, it turned to a thick consistency to spread on bread, cakes and muffins. Even you can top yogurt with the strawberry jam for a sugar-free dessert or snack. Since it is quick and easy to make in few minutes also I don’t own a strawberry garden at my home, I didn’t try making it in a bulk and storing it for the long time. I make it in a small batch and store it in a sterilized airtight container for up to 3 weeks. If you want to make and store it in a bulk for up to six months or year consider making proper canning techniques. Canning strawberry jam helps to keep the jam fresh for a longer time.
