South Indian spicy tomato chutney is an easy and delicious side dish for Idli and Dosa in 20 minutes.

Tomato Chutney is a spicy and delicious side dish for Idli and Dosa. It is also easy and simple to make with few ingredients. Kids would also love this chutney, so adjust adding spices according to their taste. Tomatoes are healthy and a low-calorie vegetable, so this chutney is an excellent alternative for the coconut chutney.

 

Smart Cooking Tips:

South Indian Tomato Chutney

  1. Avoid adding water while grinding, this chutney should be in a thick consistency. If you found difficult to blend, it add a little amount of water and blend.

  2. Make sure to cool the tomato-onion mixture completely before grinding.

  3. Cook tomatoes and spices properly until it loses its raw smell before grinding.

Serve tomato chutney with Idli and Dosa. You can also serve this chutney with vada and pakora.

South Indian spicy tomato chutney is an easy and delicious side dish for Idli and Dosa in 20 minutes.

Ingredients
  • 4 no ROMA TOMATO
  • 1 cup ONION CHOPPED
  • 2 tsp CORIANDER POWDER
  • 4 tbsp OIL
  • 2 no GARLIC RAW
  • 1 tsp RED CHILI POWDER
  • 1 tsp SALT TABLE
Instructions
  1. In a pan heat oil add chopped onion, garlic and cook until the onion becomes soft.

  2. Add the chopped tomato and cook until it becomes soft. Keep stirring in between to avoid burning the tomatoes.

  3. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, salt and mix well. Cook until the coriander powder loses its raw smell. Allow it to cool and grind it to smooth paste.
