Chow chow (chayote) chutney is a healthy and spicy side dish that goes well with dosa and rice. It is easy and simple to make in a few minutes.
Wash, peel, discard the seed and chop the chayote into small chunks.
In a pan, heat oil, add urad dal, toor dal, dry red chilies and cook until the dals color changes to golden brown. Add chopped onion and cook until the onion becomes soft.
Add chayote, tomatoes, coriander powder, salt and cook until the chayote and tomatoes become soft. Allow to cool and grind it to a smooth chutney. Chow chow chutney is ready to serve.
