"I believe cooking at home is the first step to begin living a healthy lifestyle. Many of us are too busy to find time to cook at home, and often end up eating unhealthy fast food. Therefore, I want to use my passion for cooking, to help others by providing efficient recipes and ideas. To make cooking at home easier and healthy for busy people."
Who Am I?
I was born and brought up in India, came to the US after marriage and live in the US now. I hold a professional degree in computers, I am passionate about cooking, photography and blogging.
Also a Mom to a four-year-old beautiful son and wife to an motivating husband. Moreover, blessed with many amazing friends like you.
How did I pick up blogging?
For many of us figuring out our passion could being a life long journey. Identifying the one thing that we are passionate about, to do it for the rest of the life.
I started exploring my passion when I had my Infant son. At that time my full-time job was cooking and feeding my son.
I realized it was a most tedious task and required so much creativity. Often, it required research to identify the right food for the little one. Fortunately, for me it was one of the joyous experience to take care of this little guy. I loved it. I liked every moment of cooking for him.
Back then, I did not know whether it was my passion or just mothers love for the son. However, not so late I realized I was gifted with the creativity to innovate those recipes. Not only my son, but my husband, friends and family liked my creations too. I began to get requests for my recipes, from the people who tasted my food.
Quickly, I knew I was into something. I had a discussion with my husband to do something about it.
With my degree and skills, I could easily get a good high paying job. However, looking at my passion. He encouraged me to pursue the job I loved doing it every day. Moreover, he promised to offer the support, if I do something I am passionate about. Rather than following the crowd and live life for the sake of it.
On the other hand, we also thought that it is a risk and even might end up nowhere, after losing much time and money. Finally we decided that “no pain no gainâ€, nothing great happens if don’t come out of the comfort zone and take that risk.
I learnt to cook on my own, asking family members, friends and many through online channels. As you know, any skill takes at least 10,000 hours to master it.
I would have spent even more time in the kitchen than anyone I know. My son is a picky eater, his taste preference changes often. I feel sorry if he does not like something and go hungry without eating, so I end up in the kitchen cooking different food.
This habit put me in the kitchen almost all the time. My husband till date forces me to take a break from the kitchen, but I find it hard to stay out of it. With all these experience, my cooking started getting better every day.
This motivated me to begin blogging, initially I started with Indian food recipes. While I was perfecting Indian cooking, I also was trying few American, Thai and Chinese food that I liked in restaurants.
Lately, I got better with both, therefore I am trying many hybrid or fusion recipes. Mixing the goodness from Indian recipes with richness from other cuisines. I have to tell you they are coming out magnificent; I will start explicitly spelling out those recipes for you to try as well.
Why this blog?
When I decided to explore my passion, the first thing that hit me was to record all those creative recipes to share with others.
I started doing that on a platform that is more commonly used by everyone. I was little disappointed in the beginning that I was not able to convey my message effectively.
I thought it was because the domain of the blog is in a most crowded space, and it is hard to zoom in and see the value in my content. I had to tell my message loud enough so it could cut through all the low-quality stuff and reach the audience who care about it.
Therefore, I wanted a special blog with more features that are not available in conventional platforms. We built a custom blog that is now a platform (more on that later) and fast forward now I have this unique, high-quality blog. I have created a separate page to explain the features of this blog.
What is special about this blog?
When I was cooking a variety of food for my son, I realized my recipes were simple. I was able to cook many foods quickly because the methods took way less time from scratch to the table.
That means anyone can cook even if he or she have a limited amount of time. I decided to focus on that area, smart cooking ideas for busy people. The whole world is turning into fast food culture or eating quick processed food. It is sad to see people are spoiling their health because of lack of time to cook.
I do not know if I will be able to change the whole world but if I can help a handful of people that will satisfy my purpose of life. All the features, recipes and everything in this blog is optimized for busy people to help them cook at home.
Blogging is a better career choice when done the right way. Blogging taught me many skills I think even an expensive college degree do not offer these skills. After starting to blog, I learnt many more skills apart from cooking.
Being a professional degree holder in Computers. I never learnt so many tools and technology that I am continuing to learn from blogging. It basically gives me ideas about effectively using technology for business, and various ways to use technologies to grow my blog. Currently we are working on automating many time consuming tasks, so we can do more.
Never knew this could be complicated and involved much hard work to get writing correctly. More importantly write content that engages the user. In marketing world they call this as copywriting, I am practicing this new skill, and I can see it improves as I keep writing.
As I mentioned earlier, I decided to take blogging as a career option for me. I want to be a professional blogger, which means I need to figure out the ways to get paid for all the hard work I put in as well. More than getting paid I also want to show the ways of converting a passion into a business. Set examples for future generation on following their passion and bring out the natural skills to make the world a better place. All that for vision, but in reality you need to pay your bills and fuel me to keep going.
This is a big one for me, when I started I knew nothing about professional photography. Today my pictures are featured in many professional photography sites. Want proof look around in my blog and see that it gets better every day. Now I know the various setting in the camera, the right lens, lighting, and importantly editing to make up the picture for professional grade
Another big one and a critical one to learn for any blogger. If I do not know the right ways to promote my content, then I am writing only for myself. Moreover, there are ways to promote it without annoying the readers. Even the most valuable content needs a push to get in front of the interested readers. My plan is to write more about this as I learn the tricks and techniques on marketing this blog.
I guess it's hard to explain all about me in this page, with much things change every day. I would like to stay connected with you to serve you better.
