For vegetarian chili cheese fries, replace the ground beef with mashed red kidney beans or black beans. You could replace the ground beef with ground chicken or turkey.

McCain® Potato Fries are great for the burger bar party menus. McCain® Smiles mashed potato shapes are my son Aldrich’s favorite. Whenever I host a playdate at my home these fries come handy. Kids would love to eat the fries as it is or just with the ketchup.

It is an easy appetizer for game day gatherings and weekend gatherings simple to make in just a few minutes. Prepare thick chili for this recipe instead of gravy. You could even prepare the chili ahead and store in the refrigerator. Warm the chili and layer on the baked fries before your guest arrives. Spread cheese, bake until the cheese melts and serve hot and fresh to your guests.


Texas Chili Cheese Fries are an easy and delicious appetizer for game day gatherings. Perfect seasoned McCain® Curly Fries loaded with ground beef chili, melted cheese, and jalapeno.
- 1 lb McCain® Seasoned Curly Potato Fries
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 0.50 cup Onion Chopped
- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 2 tsp Coriander Powder
- 0.50 tsp Cumin Powder
- 2 no Tomatoes
- 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 1 no Jalapeno

Bake McCain ® seasoned curly potato fries according to the package directions.

For Preparing Chili: In a pan, heat oil, add chopped onion and cook until the onion becomes soft.

Add ground beef and stir fry until the color changes to brown.

Add red chili powder, coriander powder, salt, cumin powder and stir fry for 2 – 3 minutes.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes become soft and mushy. Ground beef chili is ready.

For Chili Cheese Fries: Layer the baked curly potato fries with chili, shredded cheese, jalapeno and bake for another 2 – 3 minutes until the cheese melts.

Serve Texas chili cheese fries hot.
